Oldenberg, Nyle G. (October 28, 1917 - May 18, 2009)
Nyle G. Oldenberg, 91, Medford, died Monday, May 18 at Memorial Nursing Home in Medford, where he had resided the past 6-1/2 years.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 21 at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joseph Stefancin officiating.
Burial will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford. Pallbearers will be Duane, Randy, Bruce and Dale Oldenberg, Jody and John Krukowski and Amy and Brad Reick.
Nyle Oldenberg was born October 28, 1917 in Unity to the late George J. and Mary J. (Wonsor) Oldenberg.
He attended Unity area elementary schools and was a graduate of Medford High School.
During his high school years, his family moved to the Town of Deer Creek where he dairy farmed with his family.
On September 17, 1946 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville, he married Estelle M. Berger, who survives. They took over the family farm in the Town of Deer Creek until his retirement in 1981, then moved to the Town of Medford.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, served one term as town chairman for the Town of Deer Creek, served several years on the board of directors for Taylor County Rural Electric Company and served as school clerk for several years at Fairfield School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Duane D. and Dale D. of the Town of Deer Creek, Randy R. (Audrey) of Mosinee, and Bruce A. (Beverly) of Plover; a sister, Georgia Katzenberger of Conrad, Mont.; two granddaughters, Jody (John) Krukowski of Wausau and Amy (Brad) Reick of Mosinee; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters, Ivabell, Winifred, Arlie, Mabel, Vera and Gladys.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to his family to be designated at a later date.
