La Berge, Eleanore R. (Stauner) (December 24, 1913 - April 24, 2009)

Eleanore R. La Berge, 95, Medford, died Friday, April 24 at Golden LivingCenter in Rib Lake, where she had resided the past 2-1/2 weeks, while under the care of Hope Hospice.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 28 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating.

Burial was at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Stetsonville.

Honorary pallbearers were Jeanine Ramsdell, Chris Oleson, Jennifer Scheer, Melanie Falsetti and Michelle and Stephanie La Berge. Active pallbearers were Nick Olesen, Dave Scheer, Steve Falsetti, Falko Baguhl and Andy, Ben, Tony and Bobby La Berge.

The former Eleanore Stauner was born December 24, 1913 in Medford to the late George and Hermina (Gabriel) Stauner.

She attended Holy Rosary Catholic School in Medford, and graduated from Medford High School and Taylor County Normal School. She taught elementary school in the towns of Browning and Greenwood and also worked at Woodwards Department Store in Medford.

On October 16, 1940 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, she married Leonard "Bunny" W. La Berge, who preceded her in death on February 23, 1994. They lived in Stetsonville and she taught at St. Louis Parochial School in Dorchester from 1963 until her retirement in 1978. During retirement she volunteered at the Stetsonville Community Center.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she was a past choir member; past member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville where she was an organist and choir member; Chief Ranger of the Catholic Order of Foresters; Memorial Hospital Auxiliary; National Association of Retired Mail Carriers; and Stetsonville Homemakers Club. She enjoyed her family, gardening, oil painting, rosemalling, ceramics, playing cards, bingo, bonfires at the cottage on Lake Esadore and doing family genealogy work. She learned to use the computer at age 80 and the Internet at age 90.

Survivors include a daughter, Becky (Michael) Tylka-Leary of Medford; two sons, Bill (Debby) of Verona and Steve (Cindy) of Shoreview, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters; and a son-in-law, Bill Tylka in 1995.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Holy Rosary Parish, Hope Hospice or the Stetsonville Community Center.
