Carstensen, William August (19 Feb. 1898 – 23 Nov. 1976)

MEDFORD – Services for William August Carstensen, 78, Route 1, Medford, were at 1 p.m. today at the Hemer Funeral Home. Mr. Carstensen died at 7 a.m. Tuesday at Medford Memorial Hospital, where he had been admitted several hours earlier.

Officiating was the Rev. Warren W. Behling, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Burial was in the new Medford Evergreen Cemetery.

Mr. Carstensen was a lifetime resident and farmer in the Town of Little Black, where he was born Feb. 19, 1898, and received his education. He also worked for Hurd Mill Works for several years.

In the Town of Little Black on May 29, 1923, he married the former Pauline Feddick. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Daniel, Town of Little Black; three brothers, Walter, Town of Little Black, Baldwin, Medford, and Herman, Colby; three sisters, Mrs. Henry (Emma) Steevens and Mrs. Erna Reiter, both of Stetsonville, and Mrs. George (Maida) Peissig, Dorchester, and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
