Arndt, “Betty” Elizabeth L. (Pisca) (February 28, 1941 - April 6, 2009)

Elizabeth "Betty" L. Arndt, 68, Medford, died Monday, April 6 at her home under the care of her family and Hope Hospice. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 10 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medford, with Pastor John Melke officiating.

Burial will be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Pallbearers will be Dale and Denny Onchuck, Jim and John Kaliska, Roy Haskins and Jerry Niebauer.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

The former Elizabeth Pisca was born February 28, 1941 in Phillips to the late Adam and Mildred (Kaliska) Pisca. She attended Phillips elementary schools, was a 1959 graduate of Phillips High School and a 1961 graduate of Ashland County Teachers College in Ashland.

On August 19, 1961 in Milwaukee, she married Lawrence "Larry" E. Arndt, who survives. She lived and worked in Milwaukee prior to moving to Medford in 1978. She worked in the office at Weather Shield until ill health forced her retirement in 2008.

She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church and its choir, and taught Sunday school while she lived in Milwaukee. She enjoyed walking, bike riding, nature and helping friends and family.

In addition to her husband, survivors include her children, Brenda (Harland) Hoveland of McFarland, Lisa Drager of Medford and Heather (Ryan) Grissmann of Marshfield; four sisters, Marge Pisca of Milwaukee, Barb (Tom) Salli Salli of Broomfield, Colo., Kathy (Duane) Kussrow of Phillips and Diane (Bob) Horenberger of Medford; a brother, Richard (Gloria) of Waterford; and 11 grandchildren, Stephanie, Michael and Jesse Zuleger, Kurtis and Sara Drager, Burleigh, Chelsea, Mia and Adam Hoveland and Grace and Joshua Grissmann.

The family requests memorials to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
