Premeau, James (27 Nov. 1918 – 30 July 1944)
S/Sgt. James Premeau was the son of Mrs. Arthur Premeau of Westboro. Mrs. Premeau received a telegram from the War Department on Wednesday evening, Aug. 16, informing her that her son was killed in action on July 30, in France, and that a letter would follow. Sgt. Premeau had seen action in the African, Sicilian and French campaigns and had been in Italy since.
He entered service Feb. 20, 1941 and had been overseas since October, 1942.
James was born at Westboro on Nov. 27, 1918 and was 25 years old. Memorial services were held Monday, Aug. 21, at St. Theresa’s church at Westboro. Father Swieterman officiated at the services.
Surviving his death are his mother, Mrs. Margaret Premeau; four brothers, Emery, Theodore, Edmund and Clarence; four sisters, Lorraine, Elva, Lorabell, and Gertrude, a captain in the army nurse corps.
