Kummer, Joseph (19 Oct. 1919 – 27 Mar. 2009)
MEDFORD -- Joseph Kummer, 89, of Medford died Friday, March 27, 2009, at Memorial Nursing & Rehab Center, Medford.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Medford Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hemer Funeral Home, where there will be a 7 p.m. Catholic prayer service.
Joseph was born Oct. 19, 1919, in the town of Medford to Anton Sr. and Pauline (Rudolph) Kummer. He was united in marriage Feb. 3, 1945, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Medford to Florence H. Anderson. She preceded him in death Aug. 25, 1965.
He farmed in the town of Medford and later in the town of Grover for many years. He then moved to the town of Hammel and later to the city of Medford. He also worked at Metzler Monument in Medford.
He is survived by a daughter, Jo Ann (Merlin) Maier of Dorchester, a son, David (Sue) Kummer of Medford; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Walter "Mike" (Sandy) Kummer of Medford.
