Shadrick, Roy E. (March 3, 1912 - March 17, 2009)
Roy E. Shadrick, 97, Town of Goodrich, died Tuesday, March 17 at Colonial Center in Colby.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 21 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in the Town of Goodrich, with Pastor Carl Busse officiating. Burial was at the parish cemetery.
Roy Shadrick was born March 3, 1912 in the Town of Goodrich to the late Louis and Anna Shadrick.
On June 1, 1940 he married Ruth Helen Jarchow, who preceded him in death on June 11, 1954. He then married Virginia Janko, who preceded him in death in October 1999.
He was a logger and worked road construction as a dozer operator, and helped build the Alaskan Highway. He also owned and operated a sawmill in Goodrich until retiring at the age of 87.
He enjoyed sport fishing in Mexico and deer hunting.
Survivors include eight children, Betty (Hilton) Billiot of Pearl River, La., Robert (Gloria) of Phillips, Jack (Irene) of Beloit, Dennis (Joan) of Granton, Sharon (Roger) Matson of Janesville, Barbara (Randy) Manecke of Marathon, David (Sheila) of Medford and Joan (Richie) Dahl of Athens; a brother, Emil of Chicago, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and two wives, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Ott and Joseph; and two sisters, Alvina Margetta and Leona Shadrick.
Peterson-Kraemer Funeral Home of Athens assisted the family with arrangements.
