Obscherning, Alfred Fritz (July 17, 1935 - August 17, 1990)

Alfred F. Obscherning, 55, Medford, town of Deer Creek, died at 12:40 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where he was taken following an automobile accident on Wednesday.

Services were today at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Stetsonville, with the Rev. James Babler officiating,. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, handled arrangements.

He was born July 17, 1935, in the town of Deer Creek, Taylor County, to Fritz and Ida (Rauschning) Obscherning. He attended school in the town of Deer Creek and was a 1953 graduate of Medford Senior High School. He married Helen Hallberg Sept. 22, 1962, in Ogema.

He was a lifelong farmer in the town of Deer Creek. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and its Men's Club and Choir. He was also a member of Zion and Immanuel Board of Education and Zion Finance Board.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Gail Obscherning of Medford and Lynn Obscherning, at home; two sons, Brent and Leland, both at home; his father of McAllen Texas; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Vircks of Lander, Wyo., and Mrs. Will (Ursula) Petrell of Embarrass, Minn.
