Krohn, Orie A. (January 20, 1917 - May 9, 2010)
Orie A. Krohn, 93, Medford, died Sunday, May 9 at Golden LivingCenter in Abbotsford, where he had resided the past 2 1/2 years.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 14 at 5 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Medford, with Rev. Tim Becker and his grandson, Jeff Krohn, officiating. Inurnment of cremated remains will take place at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II at a later date. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Brett, Scott, Dr. Erik and Justin Krohn, Gerald Balciar Jr., John Balciar, Patrick Lekie, Kent and Todd Ruesch and John R. Gebert.
Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 3 p.m. until the time of
the service.
Orie Krohn was born January 20, 1917 in Almond, the late Fred and Bertha (Mehne)
Krohn. He attended Almond public schools.
On April 8, 1941 in Rockford, Ill., he married Kathryn Larson, who preceded him
in death on October 25, 1986.
On October 11, 1988 at First Baptist Church he married Edna Ehlert, who survives.
Before moving to Taylor County, he worked in Wausau, Chicago, Ill. and Rockford, Ill. They farmed in the Town of Little Black and he also worked at Hurd Millwork in Medford for 20 years. After retirement he was a volunteer driver for Taylor County Human Services.
He was an active and founding member of First Baptist Church where he served on
various boards and committees.
In addition to his wife, survivors include nine children, Bryce (Patricia) of
New Brighton, MN, Bonnie (Gerald) Balciar of Parker, CO, Lynette (David) Lekie
of Las Vegas., NV, Lois (Mark) Ruesch of Medford, Hilda (Jeffrey) Heglund of
Menomonee Falls, Nyla (John) Gebert of Wausau, Lonna (Frank Szupica) Jonas of
Racine, Robert (Carol) of Orlando, Fla., and William (Joan) of Waukesha; four
step-children, Gene (Jane) Ehlert and Diane (Sam) Ehlert, both of Medford,
Gloria (Roger) Adams of Eau Claire and Edith Ehlert of Gays Mills; two
brothers-in-law, Nels (Shirley) Larson of Stetsonville and William (Viola)
Larson of Rockford, Ill.; 23 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 34
great-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a
great-grandson, Jacob Jansen; two sisters, Mabel Doolittle and Nyla Olkiewicz;
and a brother, Arlie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the family for
future designation.
