Koontz, Marilyn D. (Marohl) (August 5, 1934, - November 26, 2010)
Marilyn D. Koontz, age 76, was born into eternal life Friday, November 26, 2010, at the Golden LivingCenter-Continental Manor in Abbotsford, following a courageous battle with MS.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. The Rev. Jerome Freimuth officiated. Interment of ashes will be held at a later date at the Mount Olive Cemetery in Westboro.
Marilyn was born August 5, 1934, a daughter of Alfred and Selma (Berndt) Marohl.
She graduated from Horicon High School in 1952.
Marilyn was married to Richard Nelson and the couple later divorced.
On November 12, 1965 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Burnett, Marilyn was
united in marriage to Gerald G. Koontz.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother and caring grandmother.
Marilyn was employed at Montgomery Wards and Green Giant while in Beaver Dam,
and worked at Sears and Marathon Cheese in Medford.
Marilyn cherished the time she could spend with her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting and gardening.
Mrs. Koontz was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Dorchester.
Marilyn is lovingly survived by her mother, Selma Marohl, Burnett; children,
Sharon (Gary) Schmidt, Burnett, Bob (Tammy) Koontz, Medford, Jim Koontz,
Rothschild, Rick (Kelly) Nelson, Denver, Colo., and Kevin (Lorie) Koontz of
Crestview, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; as well as one
brother, Marvin (Lucille) Marohl of Burnett, further survive Marilyn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Koontz, on Nov. 9, 2008.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Marilyn's name at a later
date.
