George, Patricia "Patty" M. (Hirt) (November 13, 1929 - October 16, 2010)
Patricia "Patty" M. George, 80, Medford, died Saturday, Oct. 16 at Memorial
Nursing and Rehab Center in Medford, where she had resided the past four months,
most recently under hospice care.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 20 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger officiating. Burial was at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford.
The former Patricia Hirt was born November 13, 1929 in Medford to the late Louis
and Clara (Gruny) Hirt. She attended Holy Rosary Catholic School in Medford and
was a 1947 graduate of Medford High School.
On August 20, 1949 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, she married Thomas R. George,
who preceded her in death on September 26, 1990.
She waitressed in downtown Medford, was a clerk at Heimerl's Variety Store and
did factory work, and for most of her life was a housewife and mother. She also
did volunteer work at Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting,
collecting glassware and garage sales.
Survivors include a daughter, Joanne (Ken) Mentzel of Iola; a brother, Lester of
Medford; two sisters, Joan (Bob) Ness of Medford and Rita (Dale) Jakel of
Barron; two granddaughters, Angela (Pat) Hayes of Waupaca and Roberta Stoiber of
Iola; and one great-granddaughter, Vegas Stocker of Iola.
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
