Habeck, John (February 4, 1931 - December 25, 1958)

“Sons Of The Congregation Who Entered The Ministry”

John Habeck, son of Professor and Mrs. Ervin Habeck, was born at Minocqua, Wisconsin, on February 4, 1931 and baptized there in Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church.

He came to Medford with his parents and family in 1933, when his father became pastor of Immanuel’s congregation.

Following his confirmation at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega, Wisconsin, he entered Northwestern College from which he graduated in 1953.

Thereupon he entered the Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary at Mequon, Wisconsin.

He interrupted his seminary studies when he served as vicar at St. Peter’s Lutheran congregation at Fond du Lac.

During his senior year at the seminary he serviced as emergency vicar at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran congregation at Valley City, North Dakota.

After his graduation from the seminary in 1957, he was at Mobridge, South Dakota.

A nephritic condition, caused him to terminate his service at Northwestern Lutheran Academy. In the fall of 1958, he served as part-time instructor at Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee until about two weeks before the Lord called him to his Eternal Home on Christmas Day in 1958, at the age of 27 years.
