Knippel, Darrell (April 18, 1934)

“Sons And Daughters Of The Congregation Who Entered The Teaching Ministry”

Darrell Knippel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Knippel of Medford, was born at Medford on April 18, 1934.

He received his elementary education in our Christian Day School and upon graduation on May 31, 1948, entered Martin Luther Academy in New Ulm, Minnesota, graduating on June 5, 1952.

From January through May of 1955, he filled an emergency position in teaching at St. Mathews Lutheran School in Iron Ridge, Wisconsin.

He continued at Dr. Martin Luther College for four years, graduating on July 8, 1956. Upon graduation, he accepted a call from Pilgrim Lutheran School in Minneapolis as principal and teacher, a position he is still holding at this time.

On August 2, 1958, he was married at Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Fairfax, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with six children.

Later, he attended graduate school at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

In addition to his teaching positions, he also served on the Board of Control of Dr. Martin Luther College, which he held from 1961-69 and from 1973 to the present time.

He is also a member of the Board of Regents of St. Croix Lutheran High School in St. Paul from 1958 to 1961 and from 1970-72, and is Chairman of the Twin Cities Area Lutheran Teacher’s Conference.
