Weatherford, Catherine L. (Tompson) (December 18, 1926 - February 25, 2009)
Catherine L. Weatherford, 82, Medford, died Wednesday, Feb. 25 at Memorial Nursing Home in Medford.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 2 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Medford, with Rev. Peter Warmanen officiating. Burial was at Medford Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandchildren.
The former Catherine Tompson was born December 18, 1926 in Windem, Minn. to the late William and Nora Anna (O'Grady) Tompson.
She attended elementary and high schools in Minnesota and Indiana, and attended Lockyears Business College in Evansville, Ind.
On August 12, 1946 at Mount Vernon, Ind., she married John M. Weatherford, who preceded her in death on February 3, 1977. They moved to the Medford area in 1968 and farmed in the Town of Molitor.
She was a past member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, past PTA member, and was a 4-H volunteer. She enjoyed gardening and singing.
Survivors include her children, Susan (Brian) Goke and Nora (Bill) Talajkowski, both of Jeffersonville, Ind., Elizabeth (Scott) Olson, Rosemary (Larry) Buehler, Annette (Duane) Smith and Rodney, all of Medford, Gennie (Greg Gaustad) Weatherford of Endeavor, Melba Weatherford of Colorado Springs, Colo., Edward (Maytay) of Apple Valley, Calif., Paul of Marshfield, Sydney (Aniece) of Victorville, Calif., Frank of Kahului Maui, Hawaii, Fred of Richmond, Va., and Kathy Thums of Mount Vernon; three sisters, Patricia (Jim) Sheehan of Texas, Geraldine Hoens of Evansville and Lorraine Files of Cincinnati, Ohio; 30 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Weatherford; a son, Patrick; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Mike.
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
