Kauer, Catherine M. (Bonde) (May 23, 1910 - February 24, 2009)

Catherine M. Kauer, 98, Rib Lake, died Tuesday, Feb. 24 at Golden LivingCenter in Rib Lake.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Feb. 28 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, with Father Otto Bucher officiating. Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake. Pallbearers were Peter Kauer, Matthew Kauer, Jack Kauer, Neil Kauer, Mary Jane Viergutz, Anton Kauer, Steve Schlosser, Sandra Schlosser and Mike Froehlich.

The former Catherine Bonde was born May 23, 1910 in the Town of Rib Lake to the late Phillip and Elizabeth (Stern) Bonde. She attended Mud Lake Graded School. She moved to Milwaukee where she was employed as a housekeeper, then moved back to Rib Lake.

On January 21, 1941 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rib Lake, she married Peter B. Kauer, who preceded her in death in 2003. She worked at the Rib Lake Cheese Factory and the Rib Lake Nursing Home.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and past member of Christian Mothers. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and playing cards.

Survivors include five children, Mary Ann (Ray) Schlosser, Bernard (Pearl), Ronald (Mary) and Elizabeth Kauer, all of Rib Lake, and Colette (David) Froehlich of Rhinelander; two sisters, Agnes Bonde and Isabelle Nezval, both of Rib Lake; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Kauer Sr.; three brothers; and one sister.

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
