Hessefort, George B. (20 Aug. 1909 - 2 Feb. 2009)
MEDFORD -- George B. Hessefort, 99, of Medford died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at Memorial Nursing & Rehab Center, Medford.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until time of services.
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford is assisting the family with arrangements.
George was born Aug. 20, 1909, in New Munster, to John and Anne (Scherwin) Hessefort. He was married May 6, 1950, in Bessemer, Mich., to Ramona H. Eder. She preceded him in death June 21, 2000.
He worked for Jim Peterson logging camps in northern Wisconsin, driving horses, then worked as an operating engineer doing road construction throughout Wisconsin for James Peterson & Sons. After retiring from road construction, he owned and operated a mink ranch in Medford until 1985.
He is survived by one stepson, Adrian (Millie) Gries of Locust Grove, Va.; a stepdaughter, Audrey (Mike) Stieber of Colby; seven step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
