Smith, Iris (September 13, 1914 - January 30, 2009)

Iris Smith, 94, formerly of Jump River, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009 at the Continental Manor in Abbotsford.

Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 4 at the Gilman Funeral Chapel in Gilman with Pastor Bradley Carloss officiating. Burial was at Mount Nebo Cemetery in Jump River.

She was born on September 13, 1914 in Gilman, the daughter of the late William and Odela (Bushman) Phillippi. As a young girl she moved with her family to Jump River.

She was united in marriage to Lloyd G. Smith Sr. on September 9, 1934 in Ladysmith.

They moved to Medford for a time and later moved to Fond du Lac where she was employed at Combined Insurance Company. They moved back to Jump River in 1974.

She is survived by her children, Patricia (Alvin) Faude of Withee, Reeta (Arden) Sandsnes of Monona, Sandra (Dawson) Usack of Rhinelander, Lance (Maxine) Smith of Fond du Lac, Clayton Smith of West Bend, Bruce (Janice) Smith of Germantown and Mark (Anne) Smith of Fitchburg; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, William (Virginia) Phillippi of Oro Valley, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd G. Smith Sr.; a son, Lloyd Jr.; a sister, Phyllis Schmidt; and two brothers, Donovan Herrick and Robert Phillippi.
