Sandsnes, Beverly (Hoff) (August 15, 1910 - January 23, 2009)

Beverly Sandsnes, 98, Medford, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at Memorial Nursing Home in Medford, where she had resided the past two years.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 28 at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, with Pastor Cathy Hinman officiating. Interment was at Moen Cemetery in Cashton.

The former Beverly Hoff was born August 15, 1910 in La Crosse to the late Russell D. and Mabel (Ranger) Hoff. She attended Viroqua and Westby grade schools and was a graduate of Sparta High School.

On December 11, 1932 in Waukegan, Ill., she married Alf "Sandy" G. Sandsnes, who preceded her in death on June 2, 1993. They lived in Cashton, in 1934 moved to Rib Lake, then in 1937 to Medford. In the late 1920s and early 1930s, she worked in a music store and played the piano for a dance band in and around La Crosse. She played the organ for the Community Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medford, and provided lessons for clients of the Hammond Organ Company. In 1993 she moved into Stone Croft Manor where she lived until entering Memorial Nursing Home.

She was a past member of The United Church of Christ in Medford and its woman's guild. Survivors include a son, Arden (Reeta) of Madison; three grandchildren, Carl and Eric Sandsnes and Terri Zimmerman, all of Madison; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Christian A. Sandsnes in 1961; and two brothers, Russell and Arden.
