-Bolstead, Olaf (2 JAN 1857 - 7 MAY 1949)

Olaf Bolstead, who was born on Jan. 2, 1857 in Norway, passed away at his home in Aurora Township on Saturday evening, May 7th, 1949, after being confined to his bed the past three months.

After coming to this country he was married to Miss Mina Holstenson of Aurora at Stanley in 1903. They lived in Aurora since 1920, and retired from farming a few years ago.

He is survived by his wife and four children,, Emma Bolstead of Madison, Norman and Ingman of Aurora, and Hazel, Mrs. Joe Harvot of Sheldon. One son, Orvie, preceded him in death. Seven grandchildren and 17 nephews and nieces and one sister, Mrs. Janet Holton of Milwaukee, also survive him.

Funeral services were held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Aurora on Tuesday, May 10th at 2 o’clock, Rev. John Alver of Cornell officiating. During the service Mrs. Rubin Burtard of Gilman sang “If I Gain the World” and Mrs. Thomas Smith of Cornell, sang “Abide With Me” and they were accompanied by Miss Wilma Erickson at the organ. Pallbearers were Herb Donner, Leonard Asseth, E. Almberg, Axel Berg, Nick Nickelson and John Vanderkamp. He was laid to rest in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Colburn.
