Mechelke, Clarence L. Dr. (22 Dec. 1906 - 18 Dec. 2008)

MEDFORD -- Dr. Clarence L. Mechelke, DDS, 101, of Medford, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at Our House Assisted Living, Medford, under the care of Hope Hospice.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford. Interment will be in Medford Evergreen Cemetery II.

Visitation will be Monday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of services.

Clarence was born Dec. 22, 1906, at Cascade, the son of Ernest and Helen (Lange) Mechelke. He was married June 22, 1940, at Dubuque, Iowa, to Hazel I. Zentner. She preceded him in death Aug. 22, 2006.

After his education, he practiced dentistry in Medford for a period of time until entering the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served in the South Pacific until his discharge in 1945. He returned to Medford to continue his dental practice until the time of his retirement.

He is survived by a son, Terry (Patricia) Mechelke of Hudson; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
