Goodman, John "Jack" K. (November 3, 1934 - December 29, 2010)

John "Jack" K. Goodman, 76, Medford, died Wednesday, Dec. 29. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 3 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medford, with Rev. James Krueger officiating.

Burial was at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Ben and Mike Wojcik, Michael Goodman, Jason Mitchell, Aaron Bradley, Corbin Mollman and John McMurry.


Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.

PLACE, DATE & TIME OF DEATH: 5: 20 P.M. December 29, at the UW Health Hospital, Madison where he had been a patient for the past 17 days.

TIME & PLACE OF FUNERAL: 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 3 at the Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Medford.

OFFICIATING: Rev. James Krueger.

PLACE OF BURIAL: Medford Evergreen II Cemetery, Medford.

VISITATION AT: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday, January 2 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford and also for 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 3 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Medford.

DATE & PLACE OF BIRTH: November 3, 1934 at Cicero, IL.

EDUCATION: Graduate of Medford High School Attended Barber School in Cicero, IL.

MARRIAGE INFORMATION: July 21, 1956 at Waukegan, IL to Donna M. Mueller and she survives.

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: At the age of 12 Jack moved from Cicero, IL with his family to the Stetsonville, WI and later moved to Medford. During High School Jack participated in Golden Glove Boxing in Marshfield and Milwaukee and after graduating from Medford High School he signed with the Philadelphia Phillies and the Kansas City Royals as a Minor League Shortstop. In 1958 he began working at Adolph’s Barber Shop in Colby and then in 1960 he began working at Wally’s Barber Shop in Medford until his retirement in 2007. Jack was a lifelong fan of bowling, golfing, baseball and football. He refereed many basketball games throughout Northern Wisconsin. Jack was a fun loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed life to the fullest.

Past Member: Medford Jaycee’s and the Bowling League.

SURVIVING SPOUSE: Donna M. Goodman of Medford.

SURVIVING CHILDREN: 4 Children: Kathy (Russ) Wagner of Marion, IA, Kim (Mark) Wojcik of Stillwater MN, Mike (Renee) Goodman and Kris (Scott) McMurry both of Medford.

NUMBER OF GRANDCHILDREN: 10 GREAT -GRANDCHILDREN: 2.

SURVIVING BROTHERS/SISTERS: 2 Sisters: Connie Stack of Baraboo and Judi (Mark) Seidl of Wausau

DECEASED FATHER: John A. Goodman

DECEASED MOTHER: Anastasia L. Dombkowski

PALLBEARERS: Grandsons: Ben and Mike Wojcik, Michael Goodman, Jason Mitchell, Aaron Bradley, Corbin Mollman, John McMurry and Charlie Wirth

OTHER INFORMATION: In lieu of flowers, memorial’s can be made to Jack’s family to be designated at a later date.
