Wanke, Luanne R. (Gebert) (July 4, 1939 - April 9, 2011)
Luanne R. Wanke, 71, Medford, died on Saturday, April 9 at University Hospital in Madison.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger, Father Showreddy Gali and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating.
Burial will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford. Pallbearers will be her children, Jolene Daulton, Gina Bandholz, and Randall, Russell, Rick, Jeff and Jason Wanke.
Visitation will be held at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford on Friday, April 15
from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m.

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: In her early years, she worked at St. Joseph’s
Hospital, Marshfield. After her marriage, they resided in Athens until moving to
Medford in 1964 where she worked as a housewife & mother. She served as Vice
president/secretary/treasurer of Wanke Builders and later served as
secretary/treasurer for Shamrock Properties, and AmeriVest Properties until ill
health forced her retirement in 2010. From 1988 until 2009 she ran Wanke
Builders Pool & Spa Works in Medford. She was manager for Skateway in Medford
for 5 years. Past community activities include United Way of Taylor Co.,
Secretary of Medford Area Development Association, Chairperson of the Miss
Medford Pageant for 9 years and was instrumental in starting the Medford
Welcoming Committee. She enjoyed traveling and spending time at her cottage on
Lake Holcombe.
MEMBER OF: Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford where she was involved with many
activities such as the Home & School Association, served as chairperson of the
Fall Festival, and organized the Pre-Marriage classes for 10 years.

Luanne R. Wanke, 71, Medford, died on Saturday, April 9 at University Hospital in Madison. The former Luanne Gebert was born on July 4, 1939 in the Town of Holton, Marathon County, to the late Henry and Esther (Rhyner) Gebert. She attended St. Louis Catholic School in Dorchester and was a 1957 graduate of Dorchester High School. She worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
On September 7, 1959 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester, she married Peter Wanke, who survives. They lived in Athens until moving to Medford in 1964 where she worked as a housewife and mother. She served as vice president/secretary/treasurer of Wanke Builders and later served as secretary/treasurer for Shamrock Properties, and AmeriVest Properties until ill health forced her retirement in 2010. From 1968 until 2009 she ran Wanke Builders Pool and Spa Works in Medford, and was manager for Skateway in Medford for five years.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she was involved in many activities including the Home and School Association, chairperson of the Miss Medford pageant for nine years and was instrumental in starting the Medford Welcoming Committee. In addition to her husband, survivors include seven children, D. Randall (Sue) of Rock Island, Ill., Russell (Jennifer) of Appleton, Rick (Kathleen)of Eau Claire, Jolene (Ron) Daulton of Hudson, Jeff of Oshkosh, Gina (Brent) Bandholtz of Hubertus and Jason (Kari) of Medford; two sisters, Jeannette Robida of Dorchester and Greta Ross of Neillsville; 25 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Peter Wanke, in 1998; a sister, Lucille Sebold; and two brothers, Raymond and Clarence.
