Janda, Alvin "Bub" H. (September 6, 1917 - April 28, 2011)
Alvin "Bub" H. Janda, 93, Medford, died on Thursday, April 28 at Memorial
Nursing and Rehab Center in Medford, where he had resided the past 1-1/2 years,
with his wife by his side.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 30 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joseph Stefancin officiating. Cremainal inurnment was at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford. Pallbearers were Tom and Tim Janda, Matt Jari, and Hal, Jim and Larry Kloth.
Alvin Janda was born on September 6, 1917 in the Town of Browning to the late
Peter J. and Mary (Stangle) Janda. He attended Cloverdale School in the town of
Browning and studied aircraft welding in Kansas City, Mo.
On August 16, 1941 in Chicago, Ill., he married Minnie E. Kloth, who survives.
He did woods work, then served his term at CCC in Three Lakes, then worked at Ford Motors with Arnold Schlais, the Bunte Candy Company and American Spring and Wire Company of Chicago. In 1942 they owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Browning until 1989.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and served on the Taylor
Electric board for two terms and as supervisor for the Town of Browning. In his
younger years he enjoyed playing baseball in Gad and later was manager of the
teams, and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two adopted sons, Kenneth and Daniel
(Rhonda), both of the Town of Browning; seven foster children, Tommy, Carol,
Rommel, John, Mary, Don and Leo; eight grandchildren; 5+ great-grandchildren;
and five nieces and nephews he cared for for several summers and neighborhood
children he cared for.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David A. on July
6, 1946; a sister, Jeanette McLees; and a brother, Harry.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his family to be designated at a
later date.
