Niemuth, Glenn A. (March 26, 1932 - August 6, 2011)

Glenn A. Niemuth, 79, Altoona, died on Saturday, Aug. 6, of cancer. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 10 at United Methodist Church of Medford, with Rev. Michael Adedokun and Rev. Dr. Gary Cole officiating. Burial was at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II.


Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home of Eau Claire assisted the family with arrangements.


Glenn Niemuth was born on March 26, 1932 in Deer Creek to the late Herman and Helen (Tindula) Niemuth.

He attended Victory School in Deer Creek and worked in the Stetsonville farming community.


On August 28, 1953 in Medford, he married Ellen Marks, who survives. He owned and operated Niemuth Implement Company, which is still in operation, until his retirement in 1997.


He was a member of United Methodist Church, Boxrucker-Berry American Legion Post No. 519, the volunteer fire department and the Commercial Club. He was village board president and a former director of the Farmers State Bank, was instrumental in the construction of the library, fire hall, legion hall and the Centennial Community Center, and was one of the developers of the Crestview addition to the village. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his friends and farm customers, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and extended family, as well as traveling and camping.


In addition to his wife, survivors include four children, Gregory (Claudia) and Michele Stellick, both of Eau Claire, Neal (Leanne) of Bismarck, N.D., and Jennie (Vic) Saeger of Minocqua; seven sisters, Rachel (Henry) Weiler of Marshfield, Marcella Vlach of Temple Terrace, Fla., Mabel Habermeyer of Fairchild, Elaine Fritsche of Dorchester, Beatrice (Art) Ludwig and Ruth (Ernest) Arndt, both of Medford, and Vivian (Henry) Hentges of St. Charles, Minn.; a brother, Marvin of Stetsonville; two brothers-in-law, George Marks and Steve Marks; a sister-in-law, Jane Fastle; six grandchildren, Matthew, Emily and Tom Stellick, Maria and Camille Niemuth, and Benjamin Roy Glenn Niemuth; nieces and nephews; cousins; and friends.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon, and Melvin in infancy, and a sister, Pearl Renelt.
