Thiede, Leslie "Les" E. (November 8, 1928 - August 23, 2011)
Leslie "Les" E. Thiede, 82, Medford, died on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at his home, under the care of his family and hospice.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medford, with Rev. Joshua Krieger officiating. Burial will be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Active pallbearers are his seven grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are his three granddaughters.
Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of
the service.
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
Leslie Thiede was born on November 8, 1928 in the Town of Hammel to the late
Ralph Ernest and Vearl Theresa (Hoffman) Thiede.
He attended Town of Hammel elementary schools and was a 1946 graduate of Medford High School. He worked in the wheat fields of South Dakota, on a farm in Illinois, and at the Medford Creamery.
On February 3, 1951 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, he married Luella
Christianson, who survives. They farmed in the Town of Medford until his
retirement in 1986. He also drove school bus for the Medford school district.
He was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed working in
the woods, traveling, making firewood and hunting.
In addition to his wife, survivors include six children, Kathy (Bud) Mohr of
Green Bay, Chuck (Patty) of Westboro, and Jeff, Julie (Mike) Brost, Lori (Roger)
Haizel and Bill (Carmen), all of Medford; a brother, Gene (Sharon) of Medford;
four sisters-in-law, Marvel Thiede and Beverly Christianson, both of Medford,
Marcia Thiede of Stetsonville and Ardean (Fred) Claycamp of Omaha, Neb.; 10
grandchildren, Kevin (Doreen) Mohr, Thane Mohr, Brian (Nicole) Mohr, Karyn
(Eric) St. Aubin, Scott Haizel, Nikki Brost, Phil (Karen) Brost, and Cassie,
Josh and Brock Thiede; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth in
2009 and Ralph in 2010.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to Immanuel
Evangelical Lutheran Church.
