Studinger, Gloria J. (Hoffman) (June 19, 1932 - July 24, 2011)
Gloria J. Studinger, 79, Medford, died on Sunday, July 24 at Mayo Clinic Health Center in Eau Claire, where she had been a patient the past seven days, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 29 at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joseph Stefancin officiating. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford. Pallbearers are Clint, Brent, Heather, Charlie, Sam, Josh and Lindsey Studinger and Dylan Whitman.
Visitation will be held at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford on Thursday, July 28
from 4 to 8 p.m. with a rosary service at 7:45 p.m., and on Friday from 9 to
10:45 a.m.
The former Gloria Hoffman was born on June 19, 1932 in Wauwatosa to the late
Victor J. and Pauline "Tootsie" A. (Dittrich) Hoffman. She attended Whittlesey
schools, was a 1951 graduate of Medford High School and attended Taylor County
Normal School. As a young girl, she lived with her family in the Town of
Chelsea.
On July 23, 1955 in Whittlesey, she married Richard "Dick" W. Studinger, who
preceded her in death on December 1, 1994. She taught elementary education in a
one room schoolhouse in the Town of Holway, and worked for the Medford School
District in the high school office for over 30 years.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she volunteered and was
very involved, and a past member of the Homemakers Club in Medford. She enjoyed
reading, dinner with friends, spending time with her grandchildren, walking,
gardening and attending sporting events.
Survivors include six children, Tony and Mike (Peg), both of Medford, Rick (Kim)
of Eau Claire, Paula (Mike) Whitman of Kronenwetter, Tim (Sandy) of Marshfield,
and Mark (Sarah) of Stoddard; two sisters, Joyce (Tomm) Lehnigk of Waukesha and
Janet "Muffet" Jakubowski of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven half-sisters and brothers,
Linda Lasabe, Marilyn Schmeeckle, Janine Hoffman Reyes, Conrad Hoffman, Elaine
(Rick) Grandfield, Eric Hoffman and Theresa (Frank) Hoffman Singh; 20
grandchildren, Clint, Brent, Rachel, Kurt, Heather, Melissa, Lindsey, Charlie,
Eric, Rebekah, Miranda, Dylan, Emma, Katie, Abby, Sam, Hannah, Josh, Nick and
Luke; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother,
Eugene "Skip" Roman, and a sister, Paula, in infancy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to her family to be designated at a
later date.
