White-Beck, Louise "Betty" E. (Habermeyer) (March 7, 1926 - July 23, 2011)
Louise "Betty" E. White-Beck, 85, Stetsonville, died on Saturday, July 23 at Memorial Health Center emergency room, where she was taken earlier by ambulance. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 27 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville, with Father Sleeva Raju Madanu officiating. Burial was at Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau. Pallbearers were Dennis, Brian and Larry Johnson, Steve Niehaus, Warren Dums and John Pfaff.
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
The former Louise Habermeyer was born on March 7, 1926 in the Town of Little
Black to the late John and Elizabeth (Danen) Habermeyer. She attended
Stetsonville area elementary schools, Dorchester High School and was a graduate
of Medford High School.
On November 19, 1946 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she married Vernon White,
and they were later divorced.
On December 19, 1995 in Hudson, Fla., she married Myron "Mike" Beck, who survives. She worked as a carpenter and was a housewife. In the 1970s, she started Betty White Fabrics in Stetsonville, which she owned and operated for 30 years until her retirement. During retirement, she was a volunteer for Hope Hospice.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Humane Society of the
U.S., and was one of the founders of the Taylor County Citizens Against Domestic
Abuse. She enjoyed sewing and working with and helping the people that
patronized her store.
In addition to her husband, Myron, survivors include three children, Susan (Bob
Likes) White of Wausau, Michael of Medford and Patricia (Warren) Dums of
Kewaskum; four step-children, Mary (Tom) Cappola of Tucson, Ariz., Jerry Beck of
Louisiana, Carol (Steve) Niehaus of Wausau, and Bob Beck of Athens; three
sisters, Nita Johnson of Curtiss, Joan Paul of Dorchester, and Mae Fetzer of
Madison; a brother, Gene (Mary) of Normal, Ill.; three grandchildren, Diana
(Robb) Halverson, Rachel Dums and Karissa Dums; six step-grandchildren; and one
great-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made in her
name to Hope Hospice.
