Motte, Marie Ellen (Brandt) (June 5, 1956 - November 19, 2011)

Marie Ellen Motte, 55, Medford, died on Saturday, Nov. 19 at University Hospital in Madison. A combined funeral service for her and her husband, Erich, who died on Friday, Nov. 18, will be held on Friday, Nov. 25 at 11 a.m. at Medford United Methodist Church, with Dr. Michael Adedokun officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are Amy Purdy, Katie Kuss, Shawna Kuss, April Brandt, Amanda Cynor, Nathan Bertsinger and Carrisa Stauske.


Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.


The former Marie Brandt was born on June 5, 1956 in Sheboygan to Harold and Rosalie (Whipple) Brandt. She attended grade school in Sheboygan and Chile, and was a 1974 graduate of Medford High School.


On November 2, 1976 in Las Vegas, Nev., she married Erich Motte. She worked at Hurd, Phillips Plastics, Wadal Plastics, County Market and Miracle Mile Diner.


She was a member of Medford United Methodist Church and its Twilight Circle, and a past member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and gardening.


Survivors include her mother, Rosalie Brandt of Medford; her daughter, Ericka (special friend John Johnson of Gilman) Bertsinger of Cornell; three step-daughters, Sandra (special friend Ron Kleiber) Motte and Linda (Charles) Kloth, both of Medford, and Karen (Lawrence) Gyorkos of Stetsonville; a step-son, Edwin "Squeak" Motte of Medford; six brothers, Harold "Butch" (Lori), Steven (Suzy), Alan (friend Gina), William "Billy" (friend Laura), Edward (Karen) and Scott (friend Cassie), all of Medford; three sisters, Susan (Lonnie) Smith of Medford, Sandra (Bob) Schilling of Medford and Patty (Jeff) Neitzel of Curtiss; three grandchildren, six step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.


In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Harold Brandt, and a step-granddaughter, Tammi Bucki.


In lieu of flowers, memorials in her honor may be given to the family.
