Olson, Mathew "Mat" (January 15, 1990 - December 18, 2011)
Mathew "Mat" Olson, 21, Medford, died on Sunday, Dec. 18 as the result of a car accident.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Friday, Dec. 23, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating. Interment will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers are Tim and Mike Olson, John Brost, Jon Felzkowski, Justin Olson, Nathan Brost and Dan Schilling.
Visitation will be held in the fireside room at the church on Thursday, Dec. 22
from 3 to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 8:30 p.m., and on Friday from 8 to
10:15 a.m.
Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with
arrangements.
Mathew Olson was born on January 15, 1990 in Marshfield to David "Chicken" and
Lisa (Brost) Olson.
He attended Medford elementary
and middle schools and was a 2008 graduate of Owen-Withee High School. He had
been employed at Bauer Trucking as a shop hand, Don Blasel Salvage, Brost Farms
and currently at Doboy Feed Mill as a mill worker for the past two years.
He enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycling, demo cars, making a buck on scrap junk,
spending time outdoors, and spending time with his son.
Survivors include his father, David, of Medford; his mother, Lisa (Joe Zink)
Olson of Medford; a son, Jordan, of Medford; three siblings, Justin Olson and
Ashley and Cody Brost, all of Medford; grandparents, Ruth Brost of Medford and
Leroy and Doredda Olson of Chelsea; great-grandparent, Lorraine Peterson of Rib
Lake; aunts and uncles; and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Francis Brost in September 2011;
and great-grandparents, Cecelia and Albert Olson, Lester Peterson, George and
Barbara Devine and Anton and Mary Brost.
In lieu of flowers, an account has been established at Mid-Wisconsin Bank in
Medford for his son.
