Thums, Joel Henry (August 31, 1953 - December 13, 2011)
Joel Henry Thums, 58, Sheridan, Wyo., died on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at his home.
His cremated remains will be spread at Bucking Mule Falls in Big Horn Mountains. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 31 at the Westboro VFW Hall from 1 to 4 p.m.
Joel Thums was born on August 31, 1953 to Earl and Vi (Franck) Thums.
He was a 1971 graduate of Medford Area Senior High. He was employed at Weather Shield in Medford for many years, then in 1994 moved to Sheridan where he was employed by JBD Inc.
He was vice president of Snowmads Snowmobile Club. He was a woodwork master
crafter, enjoyed hiking and biking in the mountains and snowmobiling.
Survivors include his parents, Earl and Vi Thums of Westboro; two children,
Stacy "Bomber" (Tammy) of Rib Lake and Reneta (Dustin Lange) Thums of Medford;
six siblings, Mike, Steve (Wendy) and Jodi (Kevin) Weiss, all of Westboro, Deb
Waskowiak of Purcell, Okla., and Rock (Donna) and Merri (Larry) Faber, both of
Medford; and eight grandchildren, Kayla, Brittany, Tyler and Keira Thums, all of
Rib Lake, and Shena, Dalton, Cierra and Jessie Hutchinson, all of Medford.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jini Strobach, and his paternal and
maternal grandparents.
