Bahnsen, Garold C. (1927? - December 31, 2011)

Garold Bahnsen, 84, Ogema died on Saturday, Dec. 31 at Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center in Medford.

A funeral service was held in Rockford, Ill. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Westboro VFW.

Garold C. Bahnsen, 84 from Ogema, Wisconsin died Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center in Medford, Wisconsin.

He married Geraldine Johnson on January 19, 1952 who preceded him in death July 27, 2006.

He lived for 12 years in Westboro, Wisconsin where he graduated. Garold served in the US Army during WWII before returning to Rockford in 1947. He was employed at Knox Motors, Exlund Roofing and Siding and then Dohrn Transfer for 24 years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Foresters, Teamster 325 Retiree, American Legion Spirit Post 452 and Premeau-Schauss 7817 in Westboro, Wisconsin. Garold was also the Commander in Chief for the VFW for five years. He enjoyed VFW parades, telling jokes and dancing the polka with special companion Irene Dums.

Survivors include a daughter, Vicki (John) Wojcik; 2 grandchildren, Aneissa (Zach) Johnson; Shawn Wojcik and Jackie Burnes of Maple Grove, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geri; one brother, Wesley; two sisters, Madalyne Goodling and Marge Weerda; and one great grandchild Kohle Wojcik.

A funeral service with full military honors will be held on 2pm Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens; 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park.
