Kraus, Emma A. (10 Sept. 1918 - 29 Jan. 2004)
JANESVILLE - Emma A. (HOOD) KRAUS, 85, of St. Elizabeth's Nursing Home, died Jan. 29, 2004, at the home.
Funeral services will be at noon Mon. at First Presbyterian Church, 17 N. Jackson St., with the Rev. Bruce A. Jones officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sun. at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Road.
She was born Sept. 10, 1918, in Marshfield, the daughter of Eugene D. and Emma (LUEPKE) HOOD. She graduated from Marshfield High School in 1937. She married Edward A. KRAUS on Sept. 10, 1940. He preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 1960. She moved to Janesville in 1955. She ran a rooming house for several years and then worked at Caravilla Nursing Home for 18 years. She loved her frog collection and spending time with her family. In her spare time you could find her in her flower garden and feeding the neighborhood birds. She attended her 50th HOOD Family Reunion this past August.
Emma is survived by five children, Judy (Paul) FORESMAN, Springfield, Mo., Lynn KRAUS, Sherry SHINE and Rick KRAUS, all of Janesville, and Jeffrey (Wendy) KRAUS, Milton; eight grandchildren, Beth FORESMAN and Keri CRON, Springfield, Mo., Jim NORDENG, Beloit, Stephanie (Ken) CHAMPION, Janesville, Joe (Peggy) NORDENG, Littleton, Colo., Jody KRAUS, Milton, Eric (Ronae) KRAUS, Great Lakes, and Shannon KRAUS; 10 great-grandchildren Aryal, Caleb, Austin, Leah, Ethan, Hunter, Tianna, Isaac, Jacob and Logan. She is further survived by six sisters, Genevieve TAUSCHEK, Dorothy LEFFEL, Carol DAVIS, Grace SCHRAUFNAGEL, Jessie COLLINS and Nettie CARTER; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Edith and Edna; and two brothers, George and Eugene.
The family would like to pay a special thank you to the people from Hospice and St. Elizabeth's for their heartfelt attention and care given to Emma and her family.
