Hood, Eugene D. (29 Mar. 1875 - 12 Apr. 1947)

Funeral rites will be held Tues. afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Hansen Funeral Home for Eugene D. Hood, 72, of 703 S. Cedar street, who died at his home at 11:05 a.m. Sat. He had been in poor health since suffering a stroke last fall.

The Rev. Arthur R. Oates of the First Presbyterian Church will conduct the services and military rites will be in charge of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Internment will take place in Hillside cemetery.

Mr. Hood was born at Oak Center March 29, 1875, and was educated in Waupun. He enlisted for military service at Beaver Dam April 28, 1898, serving in the Spanish-American War. After his discharge he moved to Auburndale with his parents, and 40 years ago he came to Marshfield.

He was a member of the Spanish American War Veterans, the Odd Fellows, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was married in Marshfield June 30, 1915, to Emma Luepke.

Surviving are his widow and 11 children, George Hood and Mrs. Rudy (Edith) Saterstrom, Waterford, children of a previous marriage, and Eugene Hood, route 5, Marshfield; Mrs. Edward (Emma) Kraus, Marshfield; Mrs. Norman (Genevieve) Tauschek, Granton; Mrs. Arthur (Edna) Bliven, Lampson; Mrs. Arnold (Dorothy) Leffel, Edgar; Mrs. Sylvester (Carol) Koeberl, Marshfield; and Jessie, Grace and Nettie, at home.

Other survivors are 17 grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Fred Graham, Marshfield; and two brothers, W. J. Hood, Green Bay and Dave Hood, Wabeno. His parents were Davis and Mary Hood.
