Becker, Verona (4 June 1861 - 1 June 1934)
Sherry, June 6 - (Special) - Funeral services were conducted at the Lutheran church here Mon. afternoon for Mrs. Verona Becker, 73, who died on Fri. evening. The Rev. H. Behrens officiated at the services and burial took place in the Sherry cemetery.
Mrs. Becker died of heart trouble, complicated by the fact that she had broken her hip in a fall at the home of her son, Otto, on May 23. She would have been 74 on June 4.
Born in New Glarus on June 4, 1861, Verona Kundert was married to Fred Becker at New Glarus in 1878. Four sons and a daughter were born to them. Mr. Becker died nine years ago.
A resident of Sherry for the past 32 years, Mrs. Becker was a member of the Lutheran church of Sherry and was active in the Ladies’ Aid society of the church.
Surviving relatives include her sons, Otto, Sherry; John, Rudolph; Thomas, Denver, Colo.; Fred, Middleton; a daughter, Mrs. Edna Stultz, in Illinois, a brother, Thomas Kundert, New Glarus, and a sister, Mrs. Amelia Koesly, New Glarus.
