David, Jerry A. (29 Aug. 1932 - 27 Mar. 2009)

Jerry A. David, 76, Marshfield, died Fri., March 27, 2009, at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tues., March 31 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield. The Rev. Peter Manickam will officiate, and Suzanne Golden will be the organist for Sacred Heart Church Funeral Choir.

Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 54 of Marshfield. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The visitation will be held Mon. from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI), and Tues. from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Sacred Heart Church. A combined Sacred Heart Parish and Knights of Columbus Rosary Service will be held Mon. at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jerry was born Aug. 29, 1932, in Marshfield to Wendle and Thecla (Yungwirth) David. He attended Sacred Heart Parochial School and Marshfield Senior High School. He enjoyed many class reunions with the class of 1950. He was united in marriage to Theresa A. Burger on Sept. 3, 1960, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Wuerzburg. In his senior year he was an apprentice carpenter with Wendle David Construction. He then continued working with his father until 1970 when he ran his own construction company. In 1976 he joined Stratford Building Supply, retiring in 1995.

Jerry was well-known for quality and knowledge of carpentry. He was honorably discharged from the National Guard after serving nine years. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 54 and an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus John Eisen Council 1799.

Over the years, he enjoyed rollerskating, bowling, horseshoe pitching, cribbage and golfing. He got a hole in one in 1969. He also enjoyed bus trips and hunting and fishing. Jerry enjoyed hearing stories about his grandchildren's hunting, fishing and camping trips, and horseshoe and bowling scores, and listening to them play music.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa; two sons, Blane (Renee) David, Eau Claire, Craig (Kari) David and a daughter, Colette (Robert) Dums, all of Marshfield. He is also survived by grandchildren, Ann David, Malachi and Gunnar David, and Neil and Emma Dums. He is further survived by four brothers, Willis (Jeanne) David, Daniel (Sylvia) David, Wendelin (Dianne) David, and Jack (Joan) David; and four sisters, Silveria Drews, Cecilia Trowbridge, Rose (Gene) Heggelund and Carol (John) Berg; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Memorials may be designated in his name to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
