Jean Ann Bitner (Ronchi), 62, of Marshfield passed away suddenly on March 17, 2009, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Clara Ronchi.
She is survived by her lifelong partner and husband of 44 years, Thomas E. Also surviving are her sisters, Marge (Charles) Larson and Donna (James) Rusk, both of Iron River; brothers Robert Ronchi, John (Roberta) Ronchi, both of South Range, Anthony (Marge) Ronchi of Iron River and Randy (Kathy) Ronchi of Maple. She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She taught for 24 years in the Marshfield Public Schools in the business systems department, where she developed numerous courses that enhanced the curriculum of the business program.
Jean graduated with a bachelor's of science degree in business education from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
She also received a master of science degree in vocational education from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She continued her course work at several additional universities nationwide.
Since her retirement, she has been active in numerous areas but her most significant contributions have been as the Wood County nonelected representative to the Community Care of Central Wisconsin. She is also a member of the Marshfield Retired Education Association, The Central Wisconsin Wine Makers, and The Wood County Democratic Party, and as a volunteer for the Marshfield Area Habitat for Humanity. She has also sang in the community choirs over the years.
Jean loved to travel with her family, frequently camping out for weeks on extended road trips. This time was truly family time for Jean and her family. One of Jean's fondest experiences was when she could reconnect with her family in Northern Italy, which she visited often.
The family will meet with those wishing to pay their last respects starting at 5 p.m. Sat. at the Wildwood Station in Wildwood Park. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. with lunch following.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be used to establish a scholarship in recognition of Jean's commitment to education.
