Olson, Gladys Margaret (19 May 1922 - 18 Mar. 2009)

WISCONSIN RAPIDS -- Gladys M. Olson, 86, a resident of 1141 12th St. N., Wisconsin Rapids, died early Wed. morning, March 18, 2009, at the home of her daughter, Margaret Billman at 1451 S. Biron Drive, Wisconsin Rapids.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Fri. at First English Lutheran Church. The Rev. Ken Schaub will officiate. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Fri. at the church.

Gladys Margaret Olson was born May 19, 1922, in the town of Rib Falls, Marathon County, to Arthur B. and Margaret A. (Hoffman) Tessmer. Her childhood years were spent in Rib Falls and she attended schools in Rib Falls and in Edgar. Throughout her adult life, she had lived and worked in various locations, including Athens, Spencer, Marshfield, Pittsville and Wisconsin Rapids; Chicago; Glenville, Minn.; and Thompson, Iowa. Two marriages ended in divorce and she was widowed twice. Gladys enjoyed reading, word games and traveling.

Survivors include her daughter; three sons, Gilbert (Bev) Pecher and James (Kathy) Pecher, both of Wisconsin Rapids, and Roger (Karen) Pecher of Arpin; stepson, Hal (Patty) Olson of Stratford. Other stepchildren, 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive her. Two special friends survive her, Faye Sapoff of Thompson, Iowa, and Rhonda Ewert of Wisconsin Rapids. A special thank you to Rhonda for all the kindness and care she has always given Gladys. Gladys will be missed by her cat, Tommie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gordon Pecher; former husbands, Arthur Pecher and William Degner; and husbands, Royal Baseman and Paul Olson; her five brothers, Gilbert, Fredrick, Arthur E., Richard and Lawrence Tessmer; and a granddaughter, Mary Pecher Christiansen.

Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids is handling all arrangements.
