Ristow, Marvin (3 Apr. 1949 - 12 Mar. 2009)
Marvin "Marv" Ristow, 59, of Mauston, died Thur., March 12, 2009, at his residence.
A memorial gathering will be held Mon., March 16, 2009, at the Conway Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Marv was born April 3, 1949, in Wisconsin Rapids, the son of Herman and Hilda (Stensberg) Ristow.
Marv was a very caring and compassionate man who never judged a single soul. He had a great deal of passion for the outdoors. The true loves of his life were Pam Ristow, whom he married on July 21, 2007, at Devil's Lake State Park and their little dog, Blue. Marv and Pam both loved visiting Devil's Lake, fishing together, along with visiting and spending quality time with their family and friends. They were a great team together and shared a lot of love for each other.
Marv also had a great deal of compassion for building the future of children through his 30-plus years of teaching, and he was a very civic minded person, caring very much for his community. Marv was also on the Mauston City Police and Fire Commission.
Marv is survived by his loving wife, Pam; stepsons, Corey (Andrea) McLaughlin of Rochelle, Ill.; Casey (Lesley King) McLaughlin of Belleville; Kyle McLaughlin of Baraboo; and Kerry McLaughlin of Oshkosh; brothers, Herman "Bud" (Janis) Ristow of Wisconsin Rapids, Karl (Jean) Ristow of Naples, Fla.; and Bruce (Sue) Ristow of Soldiers Grove; a sister, Jane (Jim) Leahy of Franklin; a grandchild, Emmanuel; and dear friend, George Braund. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Thomas and James.
The Conway-Picha Funeral Home and Crematory of Lyndon Station assisted the family with arrangements.
