Joseph A. Katzenberger, 89, of Marshfield died Fri. morning, March 13, 2009, at the Marshfield Care Center.
A celebration of Joe's life will begin with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Tues., March 17, 2009, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Bakerville, with the Rev. Peter Manickam officiating. Suzanne Golden and John F. Binder will provide the music for the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Rick and Kevin Handke, Brad Loos, Aaron Peterson, Debbie Whelan and Kim Schalow serving as the pallbearers.
Visitations will be Mon. from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and again Tues. at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. There will be a combined rosary service at 6:30 p.m. Mon. at the funeral home by the parish and Knights of Columbus.
Joseph was born April 13, 1919, in the town of Rock to John and Mary (Post) Katzenberger Sr. He attended St. Mary's School in Bakerville.
He was united in marriage to Clara H. Wellner on Oct. 12, 1940, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
Joe worked as a carpenter for Joe Reigel. While farming in the town of Rock, he joined Maurer's Roofing before joining Weyerhaeuser Company in Marshfield. He sold the farm, moved to Marshfield and then retired from Weyerhaeuser.
Joe enjoyed fishing, bowling, shooting pool, collecting miniature cars, carpentry and mowing his lawn.
He is survived by his wife, Clara; daughters, Donna (Eldon) Handke of Granton, Jeanette (Archie) Trader of Prosperity, Pa., JoAnn (Paul) Schreiner and Vicky (Randy) Peterson, both of Marshfield; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Joe is further survived by his sister-in-law, Ruth Katzenberger of Marshfield.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Anton, Sylvester and John Katzenberger; and a sister, Margaret Katzenberger.
