Gerald C. Konitzer, 76, of Arpin died Sat.evening at the Palliative Care Unit at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wed., March 11, 2009, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Auburndale.

Visitations will be Tues. from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI) and again Wed. at the church from 10 a.m. until time of the services.

ARPIN -- Gerald C. Konitzer, 76, of Arpin died Sat.evening, March 7, 2009, at the Palliative Care Unit at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wed., March 11, 2009, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Auburndale with the Rev. Eric Linzmaier officiating. Judy Meyer, along with St. Mary's Funeral Choir, will provide the music. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Aaron Kollross, Alexander and Benjamin Malicki, Jacob Konitzer, Todd Schoening and Gary Paschel serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI) and again Wed. at the church from 10 a.m. until time of the services. There will be a 6:30 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home this evening.

Gerald was born in Wauwatosa on Feb. 23, 1933, to Bernard and Louise (Krause) Konitzer and moved to Arpin in 1945. He graduated from Marshfield Senior High School.

He was united in marriage at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hewitt on Sept. 12, 1959, to Mary Anne Brandl.

Gerald served as village president and trustee for the village of Arpin for 10 years.

He operated Central Wisconsin Salvage and also a small engine repair business for many years. He attended many auctions in which he collected antique tractors and farm machinery. He enjoyed listening to polka music and dancing.

He is survived by his wife Mary Anne of Arpin; his children, John (Kate) Konitzer of Arpin, Gerald (Tammy) Konitzer Jr. of Kenosha, Susan (Ralph) Malicki of Franksville, Patricia (Bryan) Linzmeier of Arpin, and Kathleen (Tom) Kollross of Auburndale; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Gerald is further survived by one brother, Alfred (Betty) Konitzer of Rudolph; and two sisters, Cecelia (Howard) Frank of Sun. Vale, Calif., and Katherine (John) Frank of Lake Forest, Calif.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Steven Konitzer and Zachary Badker.

Memorials may be given in Gerald's name for either diabetes or Parkinson's disease research.
