Katharine (Page) Beyer, 94, died peacefully Mon., Feb. 23, at the Golden Living Center-Three Oaks in Marshfield.

One of nine children, she was born in Canada on Dec. 1, 1914, to parents Mary (Gaunt) and Reuben Z. Page II. Moving to the United States with her family, Katharine spent her growing-up years in Wisconsin, then moved to California and lived with the Goodells, who became a second family to her.

In 1938, she married George Look. A son, Lance, was born the next year. Following the death of George Look in 1991 in Anaheim, Calif., Katharine married Marvin M. Beyer, an old beau from Seymour, himself recently having lost his spouse to cancer. The couple lived in Marshfield and traveled frequently, both abroad and across the U.S., visiting family and friends. Over the past few years, Katharine and Marvin resided at the Golden Living Center-Three Oaks until Marvin's death in January this year.

Katharine is survived by her siblings: Mary Kettner, Margaret Carvin, James (Jim) Page and Martha Whiddon; grandson Brandon Look; stepsons Jon and Don Beyer; stepdaughter-in-law Georgette Frazer; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Marie Blodgett, William (Bill) Page, Reuben (Bud) Page and Edward (Eddie) Page; her son, Lance Look; and her foster grandson, Wendell Peterson.

A joint celebration of Katharine and Marvin's lives will be held Sat. April 18, 2009, in Marshfield, at Faith Lutheran Church, 207 S. Cherry Avenue at 11 a.m.

Katharine was a devoted and generous wife, mother and homemaker. As a child of the Great Depression, she designed and sewed her own clothes, loved bright colors, and was among the best-dressed and most attractive wherever she went. Katharine will be remembered for her kindness, the loving care she freely bestowed on others, vivacity, pluck and the courage to make the most of second chances.

In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, please make a donation to your local food pantry or to Ministry Home Care-Hospice in Marshfield. The family wishes to thank the staff of Golden Living Center-Three Oaks and the Angelus Retirement Community in Marshfield for the attention and friendship they gave to Katharine over the years.
