Graham, John (25 Apr. 1926 - 22 Sept. 2001)
John D. Graham, 75, 701 9th Ave. West, Ashland, passed away, Sat. September 22, 2001, at Memorial Medical Center, Ashland. He was born April 25, 1926, in Marshfield, the son of Cecil and Lois Graham.
John attended and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1944. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1944 where he served as a tail gunner during World War II. After the war, he went to college at Stevens Point. He also graduated from Officer Candidate School where he received his wings in 1951. He married Adeline Hudak in July of 1949 in Marshfield. John continued to work in the Air Force for 23 years, where he achieved status as "Command Pilot". During his military career, he served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. After his military service, John moved to Ashland in 1970 where he worked as an insurance inspector. He also was the Charter Captain of the "Ramrod" out of the Ashland Marina for several years. John was one of the main people responsible for the addition of the Ashland Marina and was on the Harbor Commission for the Marina. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching the Packers and was an avid member of the Golden Glow Coffee Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Adeline "Addy" Graham of Ashland; five children, Bob Graham of Loyal, Linda Graham of Ashland, Kathy (Mike) Hanson of Ashland, Scott Graham of Ashland and Vickie (Paul) Schelvan of Ashland; eight grandchildren, Mary, Johnny, Chad, Riley, Mike, Lindsey, Heidi, and Zak; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Roger (Lynn) Graham of Hayward; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tues. at the Ashland Marina Gazebo with Rev. Kent Seldal officiating. A United Chequamegon Veterans Service will follow the service at the Marina on Tues..
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ashland Marina.
Roberts Funeral Home of Ashland is assisting the family with arrangements.
