Mattison, Grace (11 Sept. 1910 - 4 Feb. 2009)
WAUPACA -- Grace (Giles) Mattison, 98, died Wed., Feb. 4, 2009, at Bethany Home in Waupaca. Grace was born Sept. 11, 1910, in Marshfield, the daughter of Frank and Emma (Schilling) Giles. She married Arthur C. Mattison on July 15, 1929, in Marshfield. He preceded her in death Feb. 9, 1967.
Grace had been a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield for many years. She had worked in the Marshfield City Hall for 22 years. When Grace retired, she moved to Stevens Point, and then to Oxford. In 2003 she moved to Waupaca.
Grace is survived by two daughters Nancy Gage of Sun.rairie, and Jeannine (Herbert) Schol of Scandinavia; her son, Michael Mattison of Stoughton; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sisters, Althea Helstrom and Winifred Winch; brother, James Giles; son-in-law, Arden Gage; daughter-in-law, Kay Mattison; grandson, Dennis Gage; and great-granddaughter Annie Belle Buhl.
She will be greatly missed as the loved, respected and admired "Mom," "Gram," "Great Granny" and "Too-Too."
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Mon., Feb. 16, 2009, at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, with the Rev. David Martin -- pastor of Shepherd of The Lakes Church -- officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield at a later date. A visitation will be held at the Holly Funeral Home from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Mon. morning.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Grace Mattison Memorial Fund at Bethesda Lutheran Home, 600 Hoffmann Drive, Watertown WI 53094. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Bob Peterson for his compassionate care, to her many good friends at Park Vista Home in Waupaca, and to her loving caregivers at Bethany Home.
