ARPIN -- Charles E. Ward, 80, of Arpin died Thur., Nov. 13, 2008, at his home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sun. at Buchanan Funeral Home in Pittsville.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sat.and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Sun. both at the funeral home.

PITTSVILLE -- Charles E. "Charlie" Ward, 80, of 7775 Ward Blvd., Arpin, died Thur., Nov. 13, 2008, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sun. Nov. 16, at Buchanan Funeral Home in Pittsville. Pastor Armando Camacho will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Sun. both at the funeral home.
Charlie was born April 4, 1928, at the farm in Arpin to Archie Ellis and Minnie Elinor (Nelson) Ward. He was educated at Maple Grove Grade School and graduated in 1946 from Marshfield Senior High School. He married Dorothy M. Snow on Oct. 17, 1958, at Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Charlie was employed at Gross Bros. in Wisconsin Rapids and farmed in the town of Arpin. From 1954 to 1956, he served in the U.S. Army. Following their marriage, Charlie and Dorothy farmed until April 1971, when they moved back to the Ward homestead. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in October 2008.
Charlie loved meeting new people and made friends with everyone. He enjoyed picking apples and berries and was always willing to help others. He was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Arpin.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ward, Arpin; children, Patrick (Elaine Caldwell) Ward, Arpin, Cora Ward, Arpin, Kathy (Thomas) Truhlar, Fort Atkinson, Peggy (Andrew) Huber, Arpin, and Peter Ward, Arpin. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Adam, Jessica, Heidi Ward and Casey, Frank, Luke and Jack Huber; and by his sister, Beverly Tyrolt of Riverside, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents.
