Frombach, Robert “Bob” John Sr. (March 15, 1940 - June 21, 2011)

 

Robert "Bob" John Frombach Sr., 71, Town of Greenwood, died on Tuesday, June 21 at University Hospital in Madison.

 

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 27 at the Rib Lake Ice Age Pavilion. Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake with full military honors conducted by the Lehman-Clendenning American Legion Post No. 274.

 

Active pallbearers were Jake Frombach, Ben Frombach, Samantha Frombach, Carly Frombach, Jade Frombach, Seairra Frombach, Whitney Frombach and Joseph Frombach. Honorary pallbearers were Kiersten, Parker and Hank Crass, Auburn Frombach and Finley and Fletcher Frombach.


Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.


Robert Frombach was born on March 15, 1940 in Rib Lake to the late Joseph and Esther (Stelling) Frombach. He attended Rib River Grade School and was a 1958 graduate of Rib Lake High School. He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960.


On November 8, 1958 he married Donna Mae Gebauer at her parents' home in the Town of Greenwood. She preceded him in death on August 27, 1998. They moved to Stevens Point in the early 1960s and he drove a bread delivery truck and did carpentry work. In 1969, they later moved back to the Rib Lake area and he took over ownership of his parents' grocery store on Hwy C from 1969 to 1979, then moving to their current residence.

He later was employed by Mann Construction, worked in the woods, was the town clerk and town assessor for many years for the Town of Greenwood, was a janitor at NorthCentral Technical College in Medford and did carpentry work. In 1985, he began Frombach Builders with his son, Bob Jr., where he worked until the time of his death.


He was an umpire for the Dairyland League, enjoyed playing horseshoes for Cattail Tap, dartball, deer hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and grandchildren, watching the Brewers and Packers, watching wrestling, farming and riding his tractor.


Survivors include six children, Steven R. of Rib Lake, Mike (Lisa) of Stratford, Robert H. (Julie) Jr., Todd (fiancée Jackie Nefstead), Joseph J. (Tracy) and Tonya (Jeff) Crass, all of Medford; two sisters, Nancy Siroin and Judy (Val) Loetscher, both of Lac du Flambeau; 14 grandchildren, Carly Frombach, Jake, Ben and Samantha Frombach, Jade, Seairra and Auburn Frombach, Finley and Fletcher Frombach, Whitney and Joseph R. Frombach and Kiersten, Parker and Hank Crass; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.


In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant brother and a brother-in-law, Jerry Siroin.
