Stichert, Dana (State Star Farmer Award - 1975)
Dana Stichert, 18-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Stichert. Rt. 1 Chili
was named recipient of the State Star Farmer Award at the annual Wisconsin
FFA convention held last week at Green Lake.
A recent graduate of Marshfield Senior High School, Dana won the section
seven Star Farmer award earlier this year. At Green Lake, he competed with
nine other sectional winners for the state award.
The new State Star Farmer lives on a 200-acre dairy farm with his brother
and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stichert. The farm operation, an equal
partnership, involves 45 Holstein milk cows with a herd average of 450
pounds of butterfat, 51 head of young stock, 15 Duroc hogs, and an
additional 160 acres of rented land.
Dana, who was a Star Greenhand in his freshman year, has served as sentinel
and treasurer of the Marshfield FFA chapter, and has actively shown animals
at the Central Wisconsin State Fair and at the Northwest junior livestock
show in Eau Claire.
He was also one of four members of the Marshfield Senior High School FFA
chapter to receive State Farmer degrees at the convention. Russell Hebert,
Dale Lewer and Mark Ott were the other recipients.
