Goethe, John (25 NOV 1868 – 31 MAY 1917)

It was with sadness that this community (Loyal, Clark Co., Wis.) learned on Thursday morning, May 31st, 1017, that John Goethe had passed to the great beyond.

He has been sick for some time with a complication of diseases, and for several months has been a sufferer.

John Goethe was born at Cashton, Monroe County, Wisconsin, November 25, 1868. In 1892 he was married to Miss Mary Atteln. Eighteen years ago they moved to Clark County, settling on a farm south of Loyal, where they live 2 1/2 years, and then moved to the village.

He went into the dray business with his brother-in-law, Mr. Albert Atteln, and since the latter's death, he has been engaged in it with his son, having been engaged in it altogether thirteen years here.

He is survived by a wife and son, Joseph, one brother, Henry Goeth, three sisters, Mrs. L. DeMund, Mrs. Dyer and Mrs. Rondorf, two sons and one daughter having preceded him in death.

The deceased was upright and honest in all his business dealings, and possessed a genial nature, which made for him many friends.

The funeral was held from the Catholic Church and was largely attended. The Catholic Knights of Wisconsin, of which Mr. Goethe was a member, attended in a body. The burial was in the Catholic Cemetery. The family has the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
