Ruth Ann Theurer and Gary Bryan Lukes were united in marriage on the
afternoon of Saturday, August 16, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church,
Stratford. The Revs. Grassel and William Noble officiated.
Mr. and Mrs. Roman Theurer, Rt. 3, Stratford are parents of the bride and
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lukes, Neillsville, are the groom’s parents.
Special music at the service was presented by Corrine Armitage, Rita
Stewart, Daniel Beaudoin and Michael Kissling.
Jan Theurer, a sister of the bride from Neillsville, was maid of honor. She
was joined by Margaret Theurer and Donna Theurer, both from Stratford, and
Debra Kelly, a friend of the bride from Marshfield.
Thomas Lukes, a brother of the groom from Wonewoc, was bestman. He was
joined by Edward Miller of Cochrane, Mark Dopp of East Lansing, Mi., and
Michael Meier of Neillsville, all friends of the groom from Neillsville.
Ushering were William Theurer, a brother of the bride from Madison, and Mark
Lukas. A friend of the groom from La Crosse.
The bride wore a Chiffenete-trimmed gown with sheared and Venician lace,
featuring a high neckline, long sleeves and a sunburst-pleated skirt that
swept to a chapel length train. She caried a bouquet of daisies, tea roses
and baby’s breath. Her attendants wore gowns in rainbow colors and carried
bouquets of daisies and baby’s breath. The groom was attired in a
long-tailed gray tuxedo.
Following the wedding service, a dinner was held at St. Joseph’s Church with
a reception and dance later at Kegler’s Kove in Stratford. The couple
planned a trip to the western states and will eventually make their home in
Memphis, Tenn.
The bride is a 1976 graduate of Stratford High School and took a B.S. degree
in May of this year from Viterbo College in La Crosse. She had been employed
by Neillsville Memorial Home and will be employed by Le Bonher Children’s
Hospital in Memphis. The groom is a 1975 graduate of Neillsville High
School, earned a B.S. degree in microbiology from UW-La Crosse in 1979 and
is presently a student at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis.
