The subject of this brief sketch is that of Jacob Vanderhoof of the town of
Sherman, Clark County, who is perhaps the oldest man in this section of
Wisconsin. Mr. Vanderhoof was born on a farm in New Jersey, February 13th,
1816, and if he lives until next February, will be 100 years old. The past
thirty years he has lived with his son, Wesley Vanderhoof, in the town of
Sherman near Spencer and has never known a sick day. He is still in
possession of all his faculties, both mind and body. He has five sons and
five daughters living, forty-three grandchildren, fifty-seven
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
