Christnagel, Almond (? – Aug 1895)
As Lynn Pickett and Almond Christnagel were preparing to watch a “deer lick”
in the town of Unity (Clark Co., Wis.) on Thursday, Christnagel took his
gun, placed blankets on the butt end of it, and took it by the muzzle and
handed the blankets up to Pickett in a tree, where they were preparing to
camp and watch for deer. Pickett took hold of the blankets and as
Christnagel drew his gun downwards out of the tree, the blankets caught the
hammer and the weapon was discharged, the charge striking him at the upper
point of the hip and went down through the abdomen and came out at the
backside of his thigh. He died the next day wand was buried at Unity Sunday
forenoon.
